LIGHTS UNLEASHES EIGHT NEW TRACKS ON A6EXTENDED

Lights really doesn’t get enough credit for how well fed she keeps her fans. All while never letting the quality slip even a little bit. After originally releasing her self funded and self produced sixth studio album, aptly calledA6, on May 2nd, 2025. She released the deluxe version, A6EXTENDED, on Friday, January 30th, 2026, with eight brand new tracks. If you know Lights, then you’re sure to know that one album release per era will not suffice for her. After nearly 20 years of consistently releasing music, Lights knows her strengths and is dialed in creatively. She maintains full command visually, lyrically, and sonically.

She previously released hermusic video for “COME GET YOUR GIRL”, in which she pays homage to some of her previous eras, including the iconic “Second Go” video, the iconic red hair of the Skin & Earth era, and the wolf masks from the “Running With The Boys” music video.

Revisiting her past is a theme on the main record as well. This is especially evident in the masterpiece that is “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES”, which contains the classic Lights guitar she’s perfected over the past few albums, beneath a callback to February Air, in the first verse.

The deluxe tracks also sound more similar to Lights’ earliest albums, containing more synth and electronic elements than her more recent albums that have leaned more heavily on guitar and bass. It’s an hour and 13-minute push and pull between her turmoil in life and the overwhelming love she feels. “FINAL ROUND” really brings this to the surface with lyrics like “One hand on my body, And the other one holding me under, 'Cause you can't even remember how to feel me”. The changing, distorted vocals drive this point home—it’s one thing, and then a second later it’s not.

“LEARNING TO LET GO” leans into Lights’ signature falsettos. It has another sneaky callback: “Drifting down the same river to the same sea.” “THIS TIME TMRW” is a dreamy, ethereal synth-driven track that makes you want to take a late-night drive to go stargazing. “THE CITY IS FALLING” contains some of the most relatable lyrics in 2026: “The city is falling and we’re saying it’s all good.”

“COME GET YOUR GIRL” is the best addition to the album. It’s got the catchiness and powerhouse vocals that build up to a satisfying bridge that makes you need to scream this car.

The closer to the album is an entire world built in two minutes and 53 seconds. It’s a gut punch. “ANGELINA,” a haunting song about grieving the loss of friendship, is an admittedly abrupt ending to the album, both literally and figuratively. But it’s some of the best storytelling on the whole album, and in a lot of ways I think the most relatable - most of us have encountered an Angelina of some sort. While spending most of the album looking to the past and present, Lights does an about-face to the future. The last words come quickly as “and I feel better.”

Lights kicked off her three-month COME GET YOUR GIRL headline tour in support of A6 on February 13th, 2026, in Edmonton, Canada. (She cheekily informed fans via Twitter that she would not be playing “Ice”  this go around.)

A6EXTENDED is no doubt one of Light’s best albums thus far. She successfully taps into the sound she’s best at, satisfying her old fans, while continuing to push her envelope enough that it sounds fresh. A6EXTENDED continues to reinforce Lights’ status as a cross-genre creative powerhouse.
