THE REVOIR SHOWS OFF WITH NEWEST SINGLE “SHOW ME”
Wednesday saw the release of The Revoir’s newest single, "Show Me", along with an accompanying b-side, "Back Home". Hailing from Aruba, the now Netherlands-based band is currently composed of Yurick Neuman and Stephan Flores, both on guitar and vocals, Shae Brokke on bass and vocals, and Madee Compagne on drums. Despite lineup changes since conception, the band first came together in 2018, making their streaming debut with the single "Jorie" in March of 2022. This was followed by a string of releases through 2022 and 2023, eventually including the band’s self-produced first album, Stomp. Much to the excitement of fans (as seen in handfuls of crazed social media comments), The Revoir have officially made their recording return.
"Show Me" is unapologetically loud, a perfect example of the band’s self-described combination of power-pop, noise rock, and shoegaze. The song first explodes with harsh and gritty guitars, Compagne’s drums leading in shortly after. The instrumental slows when Neuman’s lyrics begin, but regains intensity throughout the chorus and subsequent interludes.
It’s not that I don’t try…
But if you take the night
I won’t look for the rest of you
To come out from it
So show me out of this
After a candid intro, the single’s b-side, "Back Home", follows the more ‘traditional’ trends of shoegaze: the guitar matches the intensity of the previous song, but falls into a melodic loop instead of an overdriven, screeching riff. While the vocals are softer as Brokke takes command, "Back Home" loses none of the momentum gained in "Show Me", something that becomes apparent in the fuzzy solo heard at the end of the song.
November of 2025 marked the return of The Revoir on social media, followed by an announcement of a second full-length album, although more details have yet to be disclosed. Additionally, the release of "Show Me" was accompanied by the announcement of a one-off show, with the band participating as part of the Netherlands’ Pinguin Showcase.
