FOSTER THE PEOPLE LIVE IN SAN DIEGO
GALLAGHER PARK - SAN DIEGO, CA
In a city where the sun is always shining, the threat of rain is enough to keep everyone inside. That is, of course, unless Foster the People are in town. The group packed out Gallagher Square in San Diego on Wednesday night for THE GOOD MOURNING TOUR - and made the rain-soaked clothes well worth it.
Supporting this tour run was none other than the musician/conservationist Goth Babe, who provided one of the best opening sets that I have witnessed yet. On top of incredible songs such as "Crocodile" and "Moments/Tides," he has perfected the art of crowd immersion. With prizes such as a signed banana and a toaster, it was impossible to leave the set without a smile plastered across your face.
The rain began to trickle as the overhead lights dimmed and the backlights radiated, almost as if the group summoned it themselves. One by one, the artists took their appropriate positions with their instruments as the melody of "Life on the Nickel" slowly emerged. At last, Matt Foster made his entrance as the show officially began.
The night consisted of songs such as "Call It What You Want," "Lamb's Wool," and "Houdini," all keeping the crowd more than satisfied. As I weaved through the crowd, groups were in their world as they danced and succumbed to the music before them. The show concluded with an epic encore that consisted of fan favorites "Sit Next To Me" and "Pumped Up Kicks."
Foster the People officially concluded this tour run the next day with another packed show in Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. While there are no additional dates on the horizon, this is definitely not the last that we will see of the group.
