PEARLY DROPS BLUR THE LINES OF DREAM POP IN TORONTO
THE DRAKE UNDERGROUND — TORONTO, CANADA
Pearly Drops rolled into the Drake Underground in Toronto earlier this week (March 31st, 2026) for a night of dream pop excellence. Pearly Drops is the Finnish producer-duo Sandra Tervonen and Juuso Malin, creating ethereal, self-produced “smudged” pop music. Currently on the North American run of THE VOICES ARE COMING BACK TOUR in support of their latest album, The Voices Are Coming Back, released August 29, 2025.
Canadian hyperpop artist and producer 8485, also known as Eighty, opened the night and got the crowd moving with her shimmering, synth-soaked beats. She brought a laid-back presence to the stage, but the energy in the room was light and undeniably upbeat, as she and the crowd jumped and danced along throughout her set. Her final song of the night, “G.I.R.L”, was arguably the most fun moment of her performance; the track is catchy and infectious, and the audience let themselves get completely lost in the music.
When Pearly Drops took the stage, they shifted the room into a darker, immersive space. The vibe in the room was perfectly fitting for their hazy, dream-pop sound. Their music often blurs the line of the pop genre, leaning into atmospheric and dreamlike production. Their set consisted mostly of songs from The Voices Are Coming Back. They opened with the first track on the album, “Delusional on Sunset Blvd.” The stage was bathed in a dim green glow for the first couple of songs before Juuso asked for the lights to be turned down, deepening the mood. With the stage mostly in shadow, the room felt more like a dance club and allowed fans to be totally immersed in the cinematic textures and intertwined, layered vocals of Pearly Drops’ music.
Their set continued with tracks like “Ratgirl” and “Mermaid”, showcasing more of their newest release. Sandra danced around the stage, occasionally returning to her setup to tweak effects and play sounds live, while Juuso stayed mostly at his setup, keeping the music anchored. In between songs, the duo also mentioned it was their first time in Toronto, and the audience was just as excited as they were to be there.
For their encore, they came back to play some of their older tracks, including “I Cry While You Sleep” from their second album, A Little Disaster, released in 2023. Closing the night out with these familiar songs was a perfect way to send the crowd off, letting fans soak in the dreamy melodies one last time while adding a touch of nostalgia.
Pearly Drops’ North American tour wraps up on April 5th in Washington, D.C., followed by dates in Finland, Denmark, and Sweden, and back to North America this fall on tour supporting Slayyyter. Check out where you can see them this year on the official website.
