SURFBORT DROPS A STAR-STUDDED VIDEO FOR OUTRAGEOUS TRACK “HOT DOG” AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM
We don’t choose how or when we discover great music or great artists, and that’s evident in the fact that I never expected my introduction to a band as undeniable as Surfbort to be a track titled “Hot Dog”. And yes, it is every bit as ridiculous as you’d imagine, if not more. The track is the band’s fourth and final single ahead of their third LP, RealityStar, releasing March 6th via TODO Records. According to frontwoman Dani Miller, the two-and-a-half-minute tumble down a path of condiment-drenched rebellion serves as a “reminder to take a breath, chill out, and learn how to enjoy life again.”

Formed in 2014, the band was founded by Miller in Brooklyn’s punk scene before finding coast-to-coast success. Since then, the band has built a cult following, touring internationally, performing at Coachella, and sharing stages with bands like Idles, Wolf Alice, Amyl and the Sniffers, and more. Their sound is fresh, yet plucks the very best of 1980 punk with the blunt edge of Riot Grrrl.
On March 4th, “Hot Dog” arrived, piping hot and ready for the world, accompanied by an equally vibrant and absurd music video directed by creative and colorful mastermind Pooneh Ghana. “Fever dream” may be tossed around too much, but if there was ever a moment to use the descriptor, this song and this video is that moment. Surfbort is no stranger to memorable cameos, but the “Hot Dog” music video has what must hold the record for most cameos since the last YouTube Rewind (RIP), even featuring The Neighborhood’s Jesse Rutherford lip-syncing with BONAVEGA while wearing Miller’s signature bold eyeliner. It’s chaotic, hysterically free, and it’s no doubt going to be an absolute crowd-pleaser at shows. In celebration of Reality Star, Surfbort’s “freak family” (now including me) will be able to catch the band in Austin, Texas, on March 15th, Los Angeles on March 27th, and New York on April 3rd and 4th. “Hot Dog” is a gloriously camp anthem ready to reinvigorate listeners to simply let go and be raw, rebellious, and positively strange as hell, acting as a perfect nutshell for Surfbort’s unapologetic punk sound.
