GOOSEBERRY ROCKS THE CITY OF ANGELS

GOLD DIGGERS — LOS ANGELES, CA

Brooklyn-based Gooseberry wrapped up the first leg of their 2026 tour on Wednesday in the City of Angels, Los Angeles. The trio, composed of Asa Daniels (vocals/guitar), Evin Rossington (drums), and Will Hammond (bass), has already established its place in the New York music scene and has now brought its signature blues grunge to the West Coast.

LA staples, including Stereobliss and Hannah Gellar, opened the doors for an epic night at the iconic Gold Diggers. "You Should Go" and "FREE MY MIND"  were just a few of the perfect songs from the openers that prepped the room for a vibrant night in Hollywood.

From the second their silhouettes appeared under the lights, Gooseberry had captured the crowd’s full attention. Beginning with "Bitter", the walls of Gold Diggers were rattling within seconds. Their set highlighted songs from their debut album, All My Friends Are Cattle, released in 2024, and the crowd was devouring every note. Everywhere you looked, heads were bobbing, bodies were jumping, and smiles were bountiful. The set list was beautifully curated with a balance of high voltage, raw sounds, such as in "Cattle", to ethereal interludes with a simple spotlight on a guitar.  Whether you were familiar with the group beforehand or not, everyone in the room left as a fan - a testament to the effect that the band and their sound have on a room.

One of the aspects that left me in awe with this band is the factor of unpredictability. Their sound has no boundaries, leaving their listeners on the edge of their seats at all times. From the electrifying punches that you hear in "Kikiyon"  to the calmer sounds of Daffodils – a sneak peek of their upcoming album – you truly can’t anticipate what is coming next. The group has concocted a refreshing amalgamation of blues, grunge, and ‘90’s alternative rock that I personally can’t get enough of. Judging by the thunderous venue volume, I’m not the only one who was left entranced by Gooseberry.

After leaving an ineffaceable effect in Los Angeles, Gooseberry refuses to lose its growing momentum. They’re set to start their Southeast leg of their tour in just a few weeks, on top of a European run and a new album set to be announced soon. After only a small tease with Daffodils, I can already tell they are going to be a frequent occurrence in my musical rotation.
